Professor Suljic submitted his doctoral dissertation entitled "Geotechnical conditions for planning and designing modern waste landfills" at the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Civil Engineering of the University of Tuzla. During 2006, he stayed at the Technical University in Stuttgart and at the Institute of Umweltwirtschaft Stuttgart, for the necessary research related to the preparation of his doctoral dissertation (base closure, leachate, landfill slope stability, final surface closure of the landfill). From the election to the title of assistant professor to the election to the title of associate professor, he participated in 45 commissions for the defense of graduate theses, in 21 commissions as a candidate's mentor. From the election to the title of associate professor until today, he participated in 48 commissions for the defense of graduate theses, in 21 commissions as a candidate's mentor. Since his election to the title of associate professor, he has participated in 27 commissions for the defense of master's theses, and in 20 commissions as a mentor of candidates for the defense of master's theses. To date, he has mentored six candidates for the preparation and defense of doctoral dissertations, three of whom defended their doctoral theses. He was a member of the commission and president of the commission for the defense of doctoral theses for seven candidates at the University of Tuzla and the University of Bihać. He was an invited lecturer at the University of Bihać, University of Mostar, University of Zenica and Kadir Has University in Istanbul, Turkey. He was an invited lecturer at a scientific conference in Dubrovnik and Zagreb (Croatia) organized by the Universities of Japan and Croatia. He was a member of the selection committee for teaching positions at the University of Tuzla, University of Mostar, University of Sarajevo, University of Bihać and Burch University (Turkey). Professor Suljić is the author of five books, of which three are university textbooks. One book was printed in Serbia (publisher AGM KNJIGA) Belgrade for the needs of civil engineering faculties. He is a member of the organizing committee of three scientific meetings in the field of construction (GTZ) that were held in 2009, 2012 and 2015 in Tuzla. He is a member of the scientific committee of the international scientific conference "Contemporary achievements in construction" at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Subotica, University of Novi Sad, Serbia, from 2014 until now. He is a member of the scientific committee of the international conference "RIM". He is a permanent reviewer and member of international editorial boards of scientific and professional journals that are in indexed databases, namely: The International Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Automation (USA), The Open Journal of Water Pollution and Treatment (USA), The Journal Civil Engineering and Architecture (USA), The of Journal Civil Engineering Research (Scientific & Academic Publishing, USA), The of Journal Geosciences (Scientific & Academic Publishing, USA), American Journal of Fluid Dynamics (Scientific & Academic Publishing, USA), International Journal of Engineering and Management Research (Vandana Publications, India), scientific and professional journal "Ecologica" Belgrade, Republic of Serbia. He has so far reviewed 50 papers in the aforementioned international journals, mainly in the journals: The of Journal Civil Engineering Research (Scientific & Academic Publishing, USA), The of Journal Geosciences (Scientific & Academic Publishing, USA), American Journal of Fluid Dynamics (Scientific & Academic Publishing, USA) and The Open Journal of Water Pollution and Treatment (USA). Reviewer of a paper in the Collection of Papers published by the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Department of Natural and Mathematical Sciences, in June 2015. From March 2017, Professor Suljic was elected Vice-Dean for Scientific Research at the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Civil Engineering of the University of Tuzla for a period of 4 years, and from March 2021 he was re-elected as Vice-Dean for ScientificResearch until March 2025. He is the head of the doctoral study in civil engineering - scientific branch of Hydrotechnics. He is a permanent external expert of the Environmental Protection Fund of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is included in the Biographical Lexicon “WHO'S WHO IN BIH”, which contains biographies of personalities from the world of science, culture, art, sports, politics and religion who have contributed to the development and affirmation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in recent years. From May 2018, by decision of the Presidency, he was elected as an active and permanent member of the Association of Independent Intellectuals of Bosnia and Herzegovina - KRUG 99. From October 2019 to August 2020, he served as the National Consultant for Bosnia and Herzegovina for the development of the Strategic Action Program for the Drina River Basin, between the states of Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will cover hydropower potential and flood protection. He is a member of the Technical Committee for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Fluids and fluid systems). Since December 2019, he has been elected as a corresponding member of the Bosnian and American Academy of Sciences and Arts. In May 2022, he was elected as an associate (corresponding) member of the International Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IANUBIH). Member European Academy of Science and Arts from April 2024 – class Tehnical Science.
