Dr. Paulo Miranda is professor of Civil Engineering at IFCE - Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology, Brazil. Brazilian Civil Engineer, Ph.D in Structures from FEUP - Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto - Portugal. Founder and technical director of PF Structural Engineering and Consulting. Structural designer having developed projects in Brazil and Europe. Concrete technologist and structural researcher performing material tests in addition to structural reinforcement designs. Member of Brazilian and international associations and institutes: IBRACON, ABECE, INAEP, ALCONPAT INTERNACIONAL, ACI, GPBE, ABPE (Brazilian group of IABSE), IBRAMEM and CBCA. Dr. Miranda is Member of international scientific committees of Structural Engineering conferences. Member of research groups: Alternative materials studies group at IFCE - Federal Institute of Ceará, LABRAC research group at UnB – University of Brasília and CONSTRUCT-LESE research group at FEUP - Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, acting as an external researcher. Reviewer of scientific journals in Structural Engineering. Member of the Safety Study Commission in Earthquake Resistant Structures of ABNT that was responsible for the NBR 15421:2023, Brazilian seismic code. Author of the books: Assessment of Seismic Vulnerability in the Brazilian Building Reality and Influence of seismic action on Brazilian reinforced concrete buildings.
