Gerrit Jordaan is a civil engineer with 45 years of experience in road pavement design and materials, Research and Development (R&D), consulting engineering and training, also presentiting post-graduale training at the University of Pretoria (Appointed Extraodinary Professor: Department of Civil Engineering, 2006-2022). He specialises in aspects related to road pavement design, rehabilitation design, contract management and the optimum, cost-effective, use of naturally available granular materials stabilisied with Nano Modified Emusions (NME). He has been involved in road projects throughout Africa for local authorities and international donor agencies such as the World Bank, EU and Danida. He has been involoved in several road concession projects (PPP),acted as technical expert and advisor to financiers. He is the author of 100+ publiacations, includng conference paters, Journal articles, books and official design documents (Design Manuals and Technical recommendations for Highways (TRH)). He is a registered Professional Engineer (1983), elected Fellow of the South African Institute of Civil Engineering (FSAICE) (1997) and invited Fellow of the South African Academy of Engineering (FSAAE) (2018). He is the “Recipient of the Southern African Bitumen Association (SABITA) Award for Outstanding Achievement in the sustainable use of Bituminous Products: Excellence Award, 2018”.
