Dimitrios Nikolaidis is a Civil Engineer (MSc, DIC, Imperial College London) and a PhD Candidate at the Democritus University of Thrace, specializing in structural assessment, durability modelling, and advanced diagnostic techniques. With more than 20 years of professional experience, he focuses on the evaluation, rehabilitation, and life-cycle management of major civil infrastructure. He served in the Design & Construction Department of Aegean Motorway S.A., leading bridge inspections, structural rehabilitation design, cathodic protection studies, and long-term performance assessment of critical highway structures. As CEO and Structural Expert of Concentral OE, he has overseen over 270 bridge inspections and numerous restoration projects involving historic stone bridges, tunnels, seismic-affected buildings, and large public works. Dimitrios has contributed to engineering innovation by developing and integrating an advanced reinforcement corrosion-assessment and KANEPE compliance method into the structural software Scada Pro for ACE-HELLAS, enhancing the reliability of structural evaluations for existing reinforced-concrete buildings. His research includes publications in the International Journal of Architectural Heritage and presentations at international conferences such as SMSB 2022 and IABSE 2019, focusing on stone arch bridges, ASR-affected structures, and deterioration mechanisms. His work bridges engineering practice with technological innovation, including digital asset-management systems, fiber-optic structural health monitoring, and data-driven predictive maintenance.
