Antonio Carlos Sá de Gusmão holds a Doctorate in Transportation Engineering from the Alberto Luiz Coimbra Institute for Graduate Studies and Research in Engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (COPPE/UFRJ). He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering at the School of Engineering of the Fluminense Federal University (UFF), where he currently serves as Coordinator of the Laboratory for Distribution Logistics, Food Security, and Agricultural Product Transportation.He was the founding Coordinator of the Agribusiness Engineering Program at the School of Engineering in Volta Redonda (UFF) and has also held the positions of Vice Coordinator of the Production Engineering Program and Vice Coordinator of the Water Resources and Environmental Engineering Program at the School of Engineering in Niterói.Dr. Gusmão has extensive experience in Transportation Engineering, with a focus on urban logistics. He has participated in over 100 conferences in Brazil and abroad in the fields of education, production engineering, environmental engineering, and transportation engineering. He is a permanent member of the Scientific Committee of the Rio Transportation Congress in Brazil, where he serves as Logistics Area Coordinator.His research contributions include keynote speeches and published articles in Brazil, the United States, Canada and more recently was Plenary Speaker in International Conferences in Switzerland and France. Recently, he published the book Diretrizes de Logística Urbana para as Cidades Brasileiras: Fundamentos e Proposições, which was recognized again on 2025 as a finalist for the prestigious Jabuti Academic Award. Additionally, he authored the chapter Urban Logistics Guidelines for the Efficiency of Goods Distribution in Brazilian Cities in the book Recent Topics in Highway Engineering – Up-to-Date Overview of Practical Knowledge, published by IntechOpen in the United Kingdom. More recently, Dr. Antonio Gusmão was chosen to receive for the relevant Technologicals and Scientifics Works of 2025 Crea/RJ Award as deviser of final course works. Dr. Gusmão is also a senior member of the Latin American Studies Association (LASA) in the United States.
