Gioacchino Francesco Andriani is an Associate Professor at the Department of Earth and Geo-Environmental Sciences, University of Bari Aldo Moro (Italy), where he currently teaches Technical Geology and Rock and Soil Mechanics. In 2018 he obtained the National Habilitation to Full Professor by the Italian Ministry of Education in Engineering Geology (GEOS-03/B - Geologia Applicata). Since 2010, he has been the Scientific Director of the Geotechnical Laboratory at the same university. His research interests encompass Engineering Geology, Physico-Mechanical Characterization of Rocks and Soils, Deterioration and Conservation of Soft Rock, Stability of Rocky Coasts, and the Hydraulic Properties of Calcarenites. He has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals and serves as an Associate Editor for ENGE (Environmental Earth Sciences - Springer journal) and Frontiers in Earth Science (Section Geohazards and Georisks). Additionally, he is a Peer Reviewer for several international journals in the fields of Geomechanics, Geotechnics, Earth Sciences, Environmental Engineering, and Geomorphology. As an author, co-author, and speaker, he has participated in many congresses, conferences, and seminars worldwide. He has also served as a convener and chairperson at both national and international conferences. Since 2006, he has been involved, also as a coordinator, in several research activities focused on the Conservation and Valorization of Cultural Heritage and Areas of Special Geological Interest, funded by the MIUR (Italian Ministry of Education, University, and Research), the European Union, and private entities. Moreover, he is the Scientific Responsible for research agreements with both private and public organizations at the regional and national levels, particularly for land protection and conservation projects in areas highly susceptible to geohazards such as landslides, subsidence, floods, and earthquakes. From 2003 to 2006, he was a member of the National Council as financial auditor for the Italian Section of the IAEG (International Association of Engineering Geology). In the last four years, he has been a National Council Member for AIGAA (Italian Association of Applied and Environmental Geology).
