Prof. Nizamuddin Khan is a renowned academician with 35 years of teaching and research experience in the area of Geography and allied disciplines like agriculture, livestock and rural marketing as well as environment studies. He is specialized in political, marketing and agriculture geography. His research contribution is basically related to the study of grassroots level problem of socio-economic environment. Rural markets and Agricultural Development, Livestock husbandry and Marketing, Dairy farming, Goat Farming, Horticulture and associated their potential to ensure and generate livelihoods, poverty alleviation and sustainable development in rural environment have been major thrust areas of his research priorities. Prof. Khan is one of the eminent professors in Geography and working at Department of Geography, Aligarh Muslim University. He guided 18 Ph.D. and 05 M.Phil. He has been conferred with national and international prestigious awards and received 14 academic awards in his credit. Best Professor Award (2024), Dr. Savarpalli Radha Krishnan Distinguished Professor and Research award (2023) Prof, B. Hema Malini Eminent Geographers award (2023) , Proud Indian Eminent Professor Award ( 2023) , Bhoogol Shastra Bhushan Award ( 2019) Life Time Achievement award ( 2022) and Outstanding Scientist Award ( 2021) as well as ESDA Fellowship Award 2024 and Bhoogol Vaschapati Award ( 2024) are important awards conferred to him in the past. He has been also recipient of IGU scholarship twice in 1994 and 2006 for participation in IGU conference held in Praha (Czech Republic) and Brisbane (Australia) in 1994 and 2006 respectively. Besides, Prof Khan also achieved Best Paper awards in the conferences held in Malaysia, Turkey and USA. He has visited 22 countries like USA, Japan, Australia, China, France, Italy, Slovenia, Portugal, Iran, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Indonesia and so on for academic purpose and delivered lectures in different international conferences. Prof. Khan has also successfully completed 09 major research projects sponsored by ICAR, UGC, ICSSR, New Delhi and UP CST, Lucknow. Prof. Khan has 125 research papers published in reputed and high impact national and international journals. He also published 16 books. He has been also deputed on different positions like Chairperson of Department of Geography, Course Coordinator Remote sensing and GIS Application Department, Vice president, executive Council members in National Association of Geographers of India (NAGI). He is also life members of different academic organizations like NAGI, DGSI, International Society of Development and Sustainability, Japan.
