Karl Häusler received the diploma degree in physics (1992) from the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich and the Ph.D. (1996) at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research from the University of Stuttgart. In 1996 he joined the photonics research group at Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies in Murray Hill (NJ), as postdoc. He is cofounder of Multiplex, Inc. (1998) and was chief scientist there (1998-2000). In 2000 he cofounded Lumics GmbH and was its co-CEO (2000-2002). Since 2002 he is senior scientist at Ferdinand Braun Institute working on design, qualification and manufacturing of semiconductor lasers for space applications.
