Professor Ignacio Ortega-Piwonka coursed his PhD in Applied Mathematics at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, where he studied the bias to a cyclic motion in optically trapped indium phosphide nanowires. After working in Fulcrum3D, an Australian meteorological device company, Prof. Ortega moved to the University of the Balearic Islands in Palma de Mallorca to work as a postdoctoral researcher from 2019 to 2022, where he was part of the ChipAI Project. This project was funded by the Horizon 2020 programme of the European Commission and was committed to the design and characterization of optoelectronic nanocircuits for the efficient execution of neural networks and artificial intelligence algorithms. Afterwards, Prof. Ortega moved to Arica, Chile, to work as a laboratory administrator at the University of Tarapacá and, in January 2023, he was incorporated into the Area of Applied Physics at the King Juan Carlos University. His research interests include Nonlinear Physics, stochastic differential equations, neuromorphic circuits, neurosciences, soliton dynamics and bibliometry.
