Prof. Prasanta K. Panigrahi completed his doctoral work in 1988 at the University of Rochester. After Post-doctoral stints in U.S.A and Canada, he joined the School of Physics, University at Hyderabad, in 1993. Subsequently, he moved to Physical Research laboratory, where he headed the division of Quantum Physics and Quantum information till 2007. He has been a Professor of Physics at Indian institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata from 2007 to 2023. Since then, he has joined as director at the Center for Quantum Science and Technology, Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University, Bhubaneswar. Prof. Panigrahi’s current research interest lies in the area of Quantum Optics, Quantum Information and Computation, and Large-scale data analysis involving wavelet Transform and tools of Artificial Intelligence (AI). His present research involves various aspects of quantum correlations as well as physical manifestations of the same. The study of different aspects of light in diseased tissue differentiation through AI has received global attention as his work on ‘Quantum Cheques” and the origin of coherence of sunlight on earth. He has applied many-body tools to physical problems and, in that process, has shown an exact equivalence of the interacting model with free oscillators. Prof. Panigrahi is a member of the National Academy of Sciences (NASI), Allahabad and theGujarat Academy of Sciences. He is a project evaluator for national and international projects in the area of quantum computing and has been a referee for many prestigious journals.
