Dr. Akshay Modi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. He earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in 2020. His major research interests are membrane science and technology, nanostructured materials, water reclamation, gas separations, and biomedical engineering. He has authored/coauthored over 30 articles. Additionally, he is a co-inventor on 11 Indian patents (granted) and one PCT application. He is serving on Editorial Board of Chemical Engineering Journal and Composites Communications. Dr. Modiis a recipient of several national and international awards and recognition – DST INSPIRE faculty fellowship; Dr. S. Bauer Prize for Excellent Postdoc from the Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Israel; Shah-Schulman Award for the best Ph.D. thesis in the area of Colloid and Interface Science, Prof. Shyamal Kanti Sanyal Memorial Award for the Best Ph.D. Thesis in the Area of Membranes Research and Outstanding Young Chemical Engineer Award from theIndian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE), India; Innovative Student Project Award from the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), India; Best Ph.D. thesis awards from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India; Best Presentation Awards from the Polymer Processing Academy of India and Elsevier; and Gold Medal from the National Institute of Technology Srinagar, India.
