I am currently a Professor of Mathematics and Statistics (tenured) at the University of Southern Maine, College of Science, Technology and Health, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Portland, Maine, USA. My research interests broadly span theoretical and applied statistics. Most of my recent work is focused on developing statistical techniques for estimating population parameters from incomplete data assuming the underlying population is normally distributed. My research articles with faculty in public health areas (e.g., nursing, applied medical science, and environmental sciences) reflect my emphasis in applied statistics. My future research in statistics will focus both on pure theory and on applications. On the theory side, I wish to search for better and more efficient statistical methods of estimations from censored and/or truncated sample data that are common in many experimental and observational research studies such as environmental, biological, biomedical, epidemiological, engineering, and toxicological fields that are outside of main stream statistics. On the application side, plan to use my background in applied statistics to explore other applications of published statistical methods, and let problems in that and other research studies guide my future work. For nearly a decade I have collaborated with Professor David E. Harris, at the USM School of Nursing, on a series of projects that explore the contribution of geography to health and health risk in the state of Maine. In these projects I have contributed to the study design, performed the data analysis, and contributed to the interpretation of the results..

Title of Talk : Confidence Intervals for the Ratio and the Difference of Lognormal Means from Left Censored Samples
