Paris,
France's capital, is a major European city and a global center for art,
fashion, gastronomy and culture. Its 19th-century cityscape is crisscrossed by
wide boulevards and the River Seine. Beyond such landmarks as the Eiffel Tower
and the 12th-century, Gothic Notre-Dame cathedral, the city is known for its
cafe culture and designer boutiques along the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Paris
boasts numerous world-renowned attractions, drawing millions of visitors
annually. The iconic Eiffel Tower, initially built as a temporary exhibit for
the French Revolution centenary, offers stunning city views. The Arc de
Triomphe, commissioned by Napoleon, provides panoramic vistas and historical insights
into the French army. The Louvre Museum houses an unparalleled collection of
art and artifacts, including the Mona Lisa. The Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris,
despite undergoing reconstruction after the 2019 fire, remains a powerful
symbol of the city's rich history.
