Dr. Fauziah Abu Bakar is a senior academic and researcher at the Faculty of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Sarawak. Her research spans medicinal plants, functional bioactive compounds, plant–microbe interactions, and nature-based solutions for sustainable food and health systems. She is widely recognised for her interdisciplinary and community-engaged research in Borneo, working closely with indigenous communities to document traditional medicinal knowledge and translate it into scientifically validated applications for functional nutrition and biotechnology. Her work bridges ethnobotany, phytochemistry, microbial biotechnology, and sustainability science, with a strong emphasis on ethical sourcing, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience. Dr. Fauziah has led and contributed to nationally and internationally funded research projects, presented her work at global conferences, and actively collaborates across disciplines to advance biodiversity-driven innovation aligned with planetary health and sustainable development goals.
